San Diego Comic-Con 2019: Ben Affleck reprisará personagem de Procura-se Amy

Participação será vista em Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, a convite do amigo Kevin Smith.

Fãs da comédia escrachada podem comemorar, porque Ben Affleck está de volta ao mundo de Kevin Smith! Após o lançamento do trailer de Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, o eterno Silent Bob compartilhou um post emocionado no Instagram ao falar do reencontro com o amigo de longa data. Segundo a publicação, foi a partir de uma pergunta de um jornalista a Affleck, durante uma entrevista, que Smith resolveu entrar em contato para perguntar se ele estaria disposto a fazer uma participação no longa. Depois de uma breve troca de mensagens, a reunion foi confirmada.

Smith não conteve a emoção e foi às lágrimas quando Affleck topou a participação: "Não apenas conseguimos filmar uma cena incrível para o filme, mas agora também tenho meu amigo de volta", disse o diretor na postagem.

But when we started shooting the movie, the scene didn’t exist. This scene - and more importantly, my reunion with a guy who I’ve missed terribly for nearly a decade - only happened because of @kevinmccarthytv. Kev interviewed Ben for his @netflix movie #triplefrontier and kicked off by asking Ben “Did they call you for Reboot yet?” And Ben said no, but he was available. So producer @jordanmonsanto said “Call Ben.” I told her “That’s just some nice shit to say at a junket. He wasn’t serious.” A week later, Jordan, @jaymewes and @jenschwalbach we’re all pressing me to reach out to Ben, so I finally did. I was scared to be rejected, but I texted him “To paraphrase the sad old King Osric in CONAN THE BARBARIAN? ‘There comes a time when the jewels cease to sparkle, when the gold loses its luster, when the throne room becomes a prison, and all that is left is a director’s love for the people he used to make pretend with.’” And after a long beat of wondering how he’d receive this, my estranged friend wrote back as only he could: “Of course you still liken yourself to a king,” he joked. And then “Would be a pleasure to see you again, Old Man.” So naturally, weepy me - who breaks down emotionally during comic book flicks - was a blubbery mess. Not only did we score an amazing scene for the flick, but I also got my friend back - all because of entertainment journalism. A má notícia é que as cenas já tinha sido quase todas filmadas quando ele teve a ideia de contatar Affleck e não soube exatamente como encaixar a participação do amigo na trama. Ainda assim, Smith não desistiu do aguardado reencontro e achou uma brecha para que Affleck interpretasse novamente Holden McNeil, famoso personagem de Procura-se Amy, de 1997, que foi adicionado ao terceiro ato do roteiro. Smith revelou ainda que a participação de Affleck é um dos melhores momentos do filme e também uma "sequência de oito páginas de Procura-se Amy"

No novo filme, que se passa vários anos após os acontecimentos de O Império (do Besteirol) Contra-Ataca, Jay (Jason Mewes) e Silent Bob descobrem que um filme de super-herói baseado em suas vidas vai ser refilmado com uma abordagem mais moderna. Por isso, a dupla volta para Hollywood com a missão de impedir a produção de ir em frente. O reboot está em fase de pós-produção e ainda não tem data de lançamento confirmada.
